About Davidson Knoll Farm

Boarding Facilities
Davidson Knoll Farm is a small, casual, friendly barn located on over 300 acres of rolling countryside just outside the Bristol Hills and five miles west of the city of Canandaigua, NY. Davidson Knoll is only a 40-minute drive from downtown Rochester. All disciplines of riding are welcome and encouraged.

Directions to Davidson Knoll Farm

The Barn
  • Six 10'x12' box stalls with rubber mats and windows. Bedded with shavings and cleaned daily

  • Hay and grain provided

  • Wash stall with cross-ties

  • Locked tack room

  • Pasture board available

  • Horses are turned out daily (except for extremely nasty days) with sheds and fresh water. There are 4 green grass pastures and 2 dirt paddocks that are ideal for residents with founder/fatness issues.

  • Large grass riding area behind the barn (120'x300') with a jump course. While not technically fenced in, there are very substantial boundaries on all sides, for an enclosed feeling.

  • 60' round pen with sand footing for lunging or natural horsemanship.

The Trails
There are over 10 miles of maintained trails to ride on, scattered with jumps and obstacles as well as creeks and ponds. There are open fields for galloping as well as fun paths through the woods. Deer, turkeys, ducks, and great blue herons are frequently encountered.

This is an excellent place to teach green horses how to behave away from the barn, cross water, ride in a group or alone, and deal with nature (see above). The trails begin right at the barn, so you don't have to ride on any roads to get to them. You can do 'serious stuff' in the ring for awhile, and then reward your horse with a relaxing trail ride!

The hills are also an excellent way to condition your horse for eventing, fox hunting, or competitive trail riding. If you're not that ambitious, you can at least turn your 'pasture potato' into a fun, fit trail companion!
